I've been a reporter for 35 years and I've never been lumped with public relations and disc jockeys before. (pardon the dangling preposition) It's really an insult. I view PR types as my enemy and I can't imagine how a DJ could in any way be construed to be a reporter. As for salaries, I make far more than the salary range you indicate. I think your range would apply to a medium-size newspaper, but reporters at large metro newspapers make considerably more money. Editors can top out above $100,000.
